Call me
As much as possible, I am trying to call people rather than emailing. Just the phone. No pictures.
While this HBR article alerts us to bad emails being bad - too short, too long, circular, misinterpreting the tone - I am a fan of the third point. Just pick up the phone.
ONE THING I am finding hard is to convince people that I might prefer this and that it might be easier and save time.
We can schedule that meeting while we both look at our calendars instead of the endless back and forth of proposed times.
We can ask for clarification straight away.
We can find something funny, or empathise with a tricky situation.
To me, emails are as brief as possible and just for information - confirm times of events, name of things you couldn't remember, stuff to follow up on.
So call me. If I'm busy, I'll get back to you and then we can talk. Wouldn't that be nice?
